Third Day - I Need a Miracle

Well, late one night, she started to cry and thought he ain’t coming home
She was tired of the lies, tired of the fight, but she didn’t want to see him go
She fell on her knees and said, “I haven’t prayed since I was young
But Lord above I need a miracle”

Well no matter who you are and no matter what you’ve done
There will come a time when you can’t make it on your own

And in your hour of desperation
Know you’re not the only one, praying
Lord above, I need a miracle
I need a miracle

He lost his job and all he had in the fall of ’09
Now he feared the worst, that he would lose his children and his wife
So he drove down deep into the woods and thought he’d end it all
And prayed, “Lord above, I need a miracle”

Well no matter who you are and no matter what you’ve done
There will come a time when you can’t make it on your own

And in your hour of desperation
Know you’re not the only one, praying
Lord above, I need a miracle
I need a miracle

La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
Whoa oh
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
Whoa oh
He turned on the radio to hear a song for the last time
He didn’t know what he was looking for or even what he’d find
The song he heard gave him hope and strength to carry on
And on that night, they found a miracle
They found a miracle

La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
Whoa oh
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
Whoa oh

In your hour of desperation
Know you’re not the only one, praying
Lord above, I need a miracle
I need a miracle

Randomness

Boy hate I steroids. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately, but taking a round of oral steroids just adds to the chatter in my head. The fact that I cannot focus on a single topic longer than a couple of minutes while they are in my system, added to the fact that it seems as if I can’t get my mind to shut-off, and throw-in all the things that have been on my mind lately…boy, that makes for some “fun.” Thus the title of this post… I just have to get some of my thoughts out, even though I know this will probably turn out to be a lot of disjointed, rambling thoughts; maybe it will give me some perspective on things at some point later on.

Location…location…location…

What’s more important – opportunities for your children or family? Is it more important to raise your children near family and build those close bonds or raise them in an area that you feel provides them with more opportunities? A couple of years ago, we were leaning towards opportunities, but now we’re changing our minds on that. We are starting to decide if there’s an area that might offer some middle-ground. We don’t like how we see certain communities taking a down-hill slide, but we think there are enough larger, surrounding communities that might still offer options, although none of the closer ones offer as many opportunities as we have available at our current location. Man, how I am praying we follow His will and guidance on this decision. I'm welcome to your thoughts and input. Maybe it will shed some light on an aspect we haven't focused on or an aspect we're struggling with.

Conception or adoption/foster

We know we want to welcome at least one more child into our home. Lately, it seems like God might be leading us into a ‘different’ direction. Besides our last pregnancy being considered high-risk, there are no signs to say that we could not conceive another child. However, for some reason, the ideas of foster care and adoption are staying at the front of our minds.
Pure, unstained religion, according to God our Father, is to take care of orphans and widows when they suffer and to remain uncorrupted by this world. James 1:27 GWT

What are your thoughts on choosing to foster or adopt when you could still potentially conceive? It might just be out society, but it seems as if adoption is usually an option taken after one has exhausted efforts trying to conceive. That may be why it feels a little strange to be led down a different path. I’m still praying for God’s guidance on this to make sure we are listening to Him and following His will.

Family

Feeling the desire to be closer to family makes this next topic a little harder. Oh, how I want my daughter to grow-up near our extended families and have a very close relationship with them, just as I had when I was younger. However, there are certain things that aggravate me. You know those family members who always expect something? Ugh! My husband is still getting “guilt-trips” over the fact that we didn’t send anything back to our families for Christmas. Ok, excuse me, the end of last year was rough for us in more ways than one! I have my on-going health issues; plus, we started trying to live by more of a budget. I really wanted to send out a “family letter,” and I even bought all the stationary and hoped to get one created and mailed by year’s end. Needless-to-say, that didn’t happen. Now, all my husband hears is how upset they were because we didn’t send them anything for Christmas. That’s not the only incident of this ever occurring, either. More-and-more, it seems like all they are interested in is what we can do for them. I don’t mind trying to help out when we can, but when money, gifts, etc. are all that seem to be important to them, I start getting aggravated.

Thought for the Day

As I was preparing the lesson for our youth group last night, a few verses caught my attention:
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  James 1:2-4 NIV
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, wehave peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.  Romans 5:1-4 NIV
I pondered those verses of scripture for a while last night. Then, this morning, when I read the daily devotional I get through e-mail from The Vine, I thought about it a bit more. Even though the devotional used a different scripture passage, as you'll see below, they both refer to trials and tribulations. I think the devotional summed it up pretty well.

It's A Test Of Faith
You tested us,... refined us like silver... brought us to a place of abundance.  Psalm 66:10-12 NIV
When Jesus explained the cost of following Him, some of His disciples walked away. Yet the impact of those who didn't is still felt in the world today. By the time they wrote their epistles, His apostles had learned to see every test in life as a chance to strengthen their faith and multiply their effectiveness.

Tests of faith are opportunities to surrender something of value to God, even when we have the right not to. In a test of faith you'll feel assaulted and stretched by circumstances, yet not distant from God; tried by them, but not judged or guilty. The Psalmist writes:
For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver... you brought us to a place of abundance.  Psalm 66:10-12 NIV
A test of faith doesn't really test anything unless it pushes you beyond your last test - past what you've already proven! If you try to run or pull back each time you reach what seems like your limit, you'll never know how much you can trust God - or how much He can trust you. The fire that refines us like silver can come as a job lost, a relationship lost, good health lost, or a reputation lost. But with God, the end result is never in doubt. If you're wondering today, 'How much more can I take?' listen to the words of Bishop JC Ryle:
This only we may be assured of, that if tomorrow brings a cross, He who sends it can and will send the grace to bear it.
In God's kingdom it works like this:
Faith tested, character refined, abundance given.

To God Be The Glory!

Sweet little April Rose and her parents 'B' and 'D' have definitely been on my mind and heavy on my heart the past few days as her arrival was getting closer. She entered this world (and took her first breath...Praise God) on Sunday at 2:48pm. As of the last update, she is still with us! Oh, what a miracle! Check out her blog and look on the right sidebar for some sweet pictures of April Rose.

I know during the past couple of months 'B' has started praying for this to be God's miracle, whatever that might mean. However, she would continue to hope it would be the miracle she had been hoping for...that April would live on this earth. She got the miracle she had been praying for. I guess it turns out that in God's plan His miracle was the same miracle that 'B' had been wanting.

Oh, may 'B', 'D', and precious April Rose continue to enjoy every moment they get to spend with each other.

My heart cries

Oh, how my heart goes out to the Freeman's. I am so glad God chose to bless them with precious Kayleigh for the near 11 months He allowed her on this earth. However, my heart still goes out to this family as they must continue their journey through this life without her. One day, probably not on this earth, we will understand how taking her fit into God's plan, but oh the pain and emptiness this family must feel right now. Sweet T is not even 7 months old and I couldn't bear the thought of losing her right now. I could only imagine how I would feel if we had walked a similar journey with her and lost her after over 10 months of fighting and all the ups and downs in between. Wow, as I said, my heart really does go out to Adam and Aimee and the rest of their family. However, I hope that Kayleigh's short life on this earth continues to touch many more lives in the future.

I also hate that little April Rose's mom is having to go through so much additional hurt because of the cruel words spoken/written by a few. She is already having to go through so much because of April's bad prognosis; she should really be trying her best to enjoy this time with April...instead of dealing with the added pain caused by others. Oh, how I hope that April will continue to improve and grow and thrive in the coming days. However, I also still pray that God will continue to wrap His Spirit around them in the coming days, weeks, months... so they will be able to bear what may be ahead if the dr's are right. On the other hand, I really hope God will bless them and prove the dr's wrong and allow April to live outside the womb, just like sweet Faith Hope that continues to baffle the doctors. By the way, they are receiving confrontational and negative comments, as well. Some of their comments have even been targeted at the baby, not at the mother or family. What? Faith Hope is just over 12 weeks old; tell me how she should be causing any harm to anyone right now?

Oh how God must be moving through these stories, because it seems Satin is definitely trying to rear his ugly head here.

Well, I know this post wasn't exactly about us or our lives, but I felt I needed to share.

Faith

What truly is faith? What is a good measure of faith? I have really started questioning if I would have (and outwardly exhibit) as much faith as the mothers of these beautiful children have, especially if I were going through the same circumstances with my baby.

As I have been following their blogs during the past weeks, their stories have really touched my heart. I only hope and pray that I would (and do) have as much faith and as strong of a relationship with God as they do. Oh what a testimony their stories are to the grace of God, as well as His wondrous powers and the peace and healing He can bring!

I still feel like I am trying to (re)build my relationship with God after I had strayed for a few years. However, I just cling to Him each day and know that He is with me.

On a lighter note, here is a video clip of Sweet T having some "Frosty Fun" on March 31.

The Illness

Postpartum Depression

"The Illness"

The closet, the bathroom floor,
These places where I hide
That person I don't want anyone to see
I never dreamed I would feel this way

I don't recognize this woman in the mirror
She cries in heaving sobs
As if someone died
Maybe someone did die? Maybe it was me

Here is this tiny baby,
This precious gift from God
That I should want to hold and love,
But I can't. What is wrong with me

Others depend on me,
But I am the one who needs depending
I need help. I need to be saved
Please, oh please someone take care of me.

by Brooke Amy Hassell

My life has definitely had its ups and downs since my pregnancy. Currently, I'm trying to deal with the pressures and stress of everyday life topped with a nice heaping spoonful of Postpartum Depression.

I definitely did not expect to get PPD. Even if I had, I don't think I would have realized exactly how it would be. Until I started taking some medication, I would cry all the time. Now, that's mostly stopped, but I still feel so lonely even though I know I'm surrounded by caring family and friends.

The thing I hate most about this is the fact that I know I'm blessed to have such a sweet baby girl, but I can't fully enjoy the time I get with her. I thank God for every second that I get with her, but it is as if I am incapable of experiencing joy or happiness right now.

I still find it really hard to find words to describe exactly how I feel and to explain what I'm going through. I know that I should be happy, and I really want to be. I just can't for some reason.

I definitely feel for the other mothers that are out there dealing with PPD right now, and I definitely have a new found respect for those women that have went through it in the past.

It Was You

I think this song by 12 Stones definitely sums up my current thoughts and prayers (in a more lyrical manner than I can put them).

[Lyrics] 12 Stones – It Was You
[Listen]

It was You
That showed me who I am
And taught me how to stand
For what I know is real

I was sick of all the pain
Tired of all the shame that I felt
But You showed me a way
To never have a doubt
And always to believe in myself
Now I see

It was You
That showed me who I am
And taught me how to stand
For what I know is real

Now I'm breathin for the first time
And I'm leavin, all this behind
I've become, what I am because of You
It was You

I'm so sorry 'bout the ways
But I can't take away my past
But You love me anyway
And now I wanna do
Everything for You that I can
Even though it won't erase
The foolish things that I've done
Things that blinded me
But now I see

It was You
That showed me who I am
And taught me how to stand
For what I know is real

Now I'm breathin for the first time
And I'm leavin, all this behind
And I stand
For what I know is real

So how can I make this up to You
I'll fight and I'll push and I'll strive
Now that I'm living my life for You
I'll fight and I'll push and I'll strive
Can't You see

It was You
That showed me who I am
And taught me how to stand
For what I know is real

Now I'm breathin for the first time
And I'm leavin, all this behind
I've become, what I am because of You

I can see the writing on the wall
As time begins to crawl away from me
And I've become what I am
Because of You
It was You
